Wolf Creek
Lofts

It started as a training tool. It became something LeRoy didn't expect — a deep love for genetics, a community of fellow hobbyists, and a loft full of birds he tends to the same way he tends to everything else: with total intention.

How It Started

The Dog Trainer
Who Fell for the Birds

Nobody's surprised. That's the thing about LeRoy.

It started simple. LeRoy needed birds for training his dogs — a practical decision by a practical man. Pigeons are the backbone of any serious upland training program. You need birds that fly, birds that return, birds you can trust in real field conditions. So LeRoy built a loft.

And then he started looking at the genetics.

That's where it went sideways — in the best possible way. LeRoy got quiet about his birds the way some men get quiet about things they love deeply. He studied the bloodlines. He learned the traits. He connected with a community of hobbyists who take this just as seriously as he does. He found that breeding pigeons — selecting for color, for homing instinct, for temperament and endurance — is the same thing he does with his dogs. Same patience. Same intention. Same refusal to cut corners.

What started as a tool became a passion. What started as a flock became a program. Wolf Creek Lofts is now its own thing — separate from the kennel, built on the same philosophy, and tended to with the same care.

"Some guys collect trucks. Some guys collect tools. LeRoy collects bloodlines — and it turns out it doesn't matter much whether they have fur or feathers."

He raises top quality homing racing pigeons along with color stock pigeons. He also keeps chukars and other hunting birds for field work. Because if you're going to do it, you do all of it.

Maverick — age three — already has a job at the loft. He shows up, he knows which birds get fed first, and he has opinions about it. Nobody taught him that. He just started doing it. Sound familiar?

What's in the Loft

Bred with purpose. Every one of them.

Wolf Creek Lofts breeds pigeons primarily for color and genetic traits — the same way LeRoy approaches his dogs. Every pairing is intentional. Every generation is evaluated. He's also active in the hobbyist community, which means he's constantly learning, trading ideas, and refining what he's building.

Beyond the pigeons, LeRoy keeps chukars and other hunting birds for field training. Real birds make real dogs. That hasn't changed.

Homing Racing PigeonsBreeding Program

Wolf Creek's primary breeding focus. Selected for homing instinct, color, and genetic traits. LeRoy studies every pairing the way he studies his dog bloodlines — with patience and a long view. Birds available occasionally as the program produces surplus stock.

Color Stock PigeonsGenetics & Breeding

Bred specifically for color genetics. This is where LeRoy's obsession with bloodlines really shows — selecting for specific traits across generations. It's the same patience he brings to his pointing dogs, just with feathers.

Training PigeonsFor Dog Trainers

Purpose-raised for upland bird dog training. Good fliers with the wildness your dog needs to develop real instincts. Not pen-raised duds — these birds move. Available in batches for trainers and kennels.

ChukarsHunting & Field Training

LeRoy keeps chukars for field work — hunting and training. A different kind of challenge than the pigeons, and one he enjoys. Ask about availability when you reach out.

The Community

A Hobby Worth
Taking Seriously

LeRoy didn't expect to find his people here. He did.

One of the things LeRoy didn't anticipate about the loft was the community. Pigeon hobbyists are a particular kind of people — patient, knowledgeable, deeply serious about their birds, and completely unbothered by the fact that most of the world doesn't understand why. LeRoy fit right in.

He's connected with breeders and hobbyists across the region who share the same approach: study the genetics, respect the birds, breed with intention, and talk straight. It's the same culture as the dog world, just with feathers.

If you're into pigeons — or thinking about getting into pigeons — LeRoy is happy to talk. He's been through the learning curve and will tell you exactly what he'd do differently if he started over. That's just how he operates.
